Supporting Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to Learn and Achieve

The City of Wolverhampton Council has recently produced a draft policy framework to guide the future development of educational provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities in Wolverhampton. 

Widespread consultation was undertaken by City of Wolverhampton Council in Spring 2020 and on 3 June 2020, the Cabinet of the City of Wolverhampton Council considered the outcomes of consultation and approved the High Needs Provision Framework. 

This decision was taken to support the City of Wolverhampton Council to ensure the sufficiency of appropriate provision and to provide a clear and transparent structure to guide the development of the local educational estate.

Overview

High Needs Provision Framework:

Levels of demand for educational provision in Wolverhampton have increased significantly in recent years and are forecast to continue to increase in the short to medium term. To ensure that the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities can continue to be met effectively the Council keeps provision under review.

The City of Wolverhampton Council has recently produced a draft policy framework to guide the future development of educational provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities in Wolverhampton.

The policy framework, which has benefited from widespread early pre-consultation, includes a series of recommendations and commissioning priorities to guide a long term, estate wide approach to the development of educational provision in the City.

The City of Wolverhampton Council would welcome your opinions on the draft ‘High Needs Provision Framework’.

Consultation commenced on 2 March 2020 and runs until 13 April 2020.
