Budget Consultation 2026-2027

Closes 16 Jan 2026

Opened 21 Nov 2025

Overview

City of Wolverhampton Council wants to hear how you think our budget for 2026-2027 should be spent.

Like all Councils, we’re facing significant financial pressures.

These pressures include increased levels of demand in areas out of the council’s control, such as children’s and adult services and people in need of temporary accommodation. The Council has also had to deal with rising costs combined with years of reduced levels of government funding.

However, we remain committed to investing in the services that mean the most to you. This has included focusing our resources on:

  • Improving roads and fixing potholes
  • A cleaner greener city
  • Making Wolverhampton a better city with a brighter future
  • Building homes for local people
  • Supporting people when they need us the most

To help us plan for the future and how to best use our resources, we want to understand what matters most to you as a resident, business, student or visitor in the city.

As with last year, we again anticipate an increase in council tax by 4.99%, subject to approval by full council in February 2026.

By giving us your views, we can set a Budget and Council Plan for 2026-2027 that reflects your priorities, while still delivering excellent services for Wolverhampton.
