Your Priorities for Wolverhampton
Overview
Like local authorities up and down the country, City of Wolverhampton Council is facing significant financial challenges as a result of reduced funding, increasing demand and the impact of the cost of living crisis.
Despite these challenges, including budget cuts of £240 million over the last 13 years, we have continued to set a balanced budget in order to deliver excellent public services for you.
However, with rising demand for services and reducing resources, the council faces its biggest challenge ever as we plan for the future.
This year, our funding announced by Government was based on the assumption that we would increase council tax by 4.99% (made up of 2.99% for council services and 2% to fund adult social care). We can expect a similar approach for 2024/25.
To help us plan for the future, we want to understand what matters most to you as a resident or business in the city.
By giving us your views, we can set a budget for 2024/25 that reflects your priorities, while still delivering excellent services for Wolverhampton.
