Consultation on the Proposed Expansion of Green Park School

Opens 15 Sep 2025

Closes 12 Oct 2025

Overview

On 06 July 2025, Initial Consultation on the proposal to expand Green Park School concluded. On 03 September 2025, The Cabinet of City of Wolverhampton Council reviewed the outcomes of Initial Consultation and determined that Formal Consultation (Representation) should commence for this proposal.

It is proposed that Green Park School’s capacity be increased by 27 places, bringing the total to 174 places, effective from September 2027. Green Park School caters for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty (PMLD).

Why your views matter

There has been an increase in the number of children with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) that require specialist provision.  Following the Covid pandemic, younger children are presenting with more complex needs and require suitable provision to support their education. The increase in places at Green Park School will help to cater for this and aligns with Wolverhampton SEND Joint Commissioning Strategy 2022-25 for children to achieve their full potential.

To support the permanent expansion of the school and the proposed increase in commissioned places to 174, additional specialist accommodation is required. We are seeking your comments/feedback on the proposed expansion.
