Windrush monument consultation

Closes 20 Jan 2025

Opened 5 Dec 2024

Overview

City of Wolverhampton Council invites residents to participate in a consultation dedicated to honouring the contributions of the Windrush generation.  This initiative is part of a broader legacy project to celebrate the cultural heritage of the Caribbean community in Wolverhampton.

Our Windrush Monument Consultation seeks to create a meaningful tribute that resonates with the Caribbean community and will also be a source of education for future generations.  By gathering input from the community, we aim to develop a piece that reflects the values, history and stories of those we seek to commemorate.

Our commitment to inclusivity

The consultation process is designed to ensure that all voices are heard.  We believe that the legacy of the Windrush generation is an integreal part of our cities identity and we want to create a lasting tribute that embodies this.

The consultation will run until mid January 2025.  Throughout this period we will also be sharing paper copies of the consultation in a number of locations.  If you would like to host paper copies please email the EDI team at EDI@Wolverhampton.gov.uk
