Dog Control Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) 2026
Overview
The current Wolverhampton Dog Control PSPO is to be renewed during 2026 with a planned implementation date of 1 October 2026. It is proposed that the existing measures will stay the same except for:
- Dogs will be required to be on a lead across the whole of Northycote Farm without exception for the protection of livestock. This increases the dogs on leads requirement currently in existence.
- Any dog in a public place must wear a collar / tag with the owner’s name and address or other contact details on it. Microchipping does not replace this requirement. A phone number isn’t legally required, but is strongly advised. Inclusion into the 2026 PSPO of this existing legal requirement would allow the offence to be dealt with by way of a Fixed Penalty Notice rather than prosecution.
